Discover Ireland for Free – Get Your Free Attractions Guide and Other Ways to Save

Reader
The goal of creating Ireland on a Budget was always to offer my followers a way to see Ireland in an affordable way.

Knowing that Ireland is not exactly on a list of budget-friendly destinations in Europe and realizing also that everyone's budget is different depending on economic circumstances, the challenge for me in promoting Ireland as a destination has always been a balancing act.

There's no way I can get away from highlighting certain facets of the Irish tourism business, most notably accommodation that can be more cost-prohibitive than people might expect and at the same time, making them aware of the cheaper ways to enjoy a vacation in the Emerald Isle.

The updated list of free attractions below, one for every county on the island of Ireland, is my way of introducing you to some of the attractions and activities that can be enjoyed without breaking the bank.

While all vacations sometimes end up costing us more than we originally planned, this might, in some small way, help you stay within your budget.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at colette@irelandonabudget.com

Happy travels,

Other Ways of Saving Money

  • The heritage card is a great way to save money if you are interested in visiting many of Ireland's castles, abbeys and friaries.
  • If you intend to use Dublin's public transportation system a lot, the Leap Visitor Card will save you money. I suggest that you buy it when you get to Ireland. A list of the places where it's available can be found here.
  • Love free museums? There's a variety of them in Dublin alone. Discover more here.
  • Want to save money on food? Stop off at petrol stations in Ireland, otherwise known as service stations. Many of them have great food — both hot and cold. In addition, I'd look out for early bird specials in restaurants across the country that will save you a few Euro as well. Scroll to the bottom of this post to discover some restaurants in Dublin that offer deals.
  • If you want to cut down on accommodation costs, choose a B&B over a hotel. They tend to be cheaper. You'll find them on Booking.com and on BandBIreland.com.
  • Using public transportation instead of renting a car will also save you money. If you're interested in learning about the Irish transportation system and exploring an itinerary that works using public transport in Ireland, you'll find it in this e-book titled "14 Days in Ireland Using Public Transportation," available on my Etsy page.
  • Avoid costly WiFi charges that international carriers typically charge by purchasing a portable Wifi device from WiFicandy, a Dublin-based company that I partner with. This handy device can be connected to 8 phones/ipads — great for groups traveling together. Use code IOB10 to get 10% off.
  • If you're interested in seeing Ireland on a tour, I am currently partnering with TourRadar and giving my followers a special code for up to 70% off its Ireland tour packages, and at the very least, 40-50% off with code PATRICKSDAY25. Find out more here.
